Anaphylaxis is a severe reaction to a certain allergen. This includes foods, medications, and insect stings. Symptoms may include swelling of the face, lips, throat, hands or feet, itching with hives or redness of the skin, severe shortness of breath or severe diarrhea. These symptoms may lead to shock.

It is important to identify what is causing the reaction as well as to treat symptoms before they progress to life-threatening reactions. In addition, an epinephrine autoinjector should be available at all times.

Contact Dr. Ellen Epstein to schedule an appointment to begin allergy testing.
